The University of Newcastle’s Q Building at Honeysuckle incorporated innovative and sustainable materials including 2,200m2 of CLT flooring and 250m3 of GLT posts and beams, all installed by Savcon.

Timber was the material of choice to to reduce
embodied carbon and minimise construction waste and an electrochromic ‘smart glass’ façade was installed to increase energy efficiency and occupant comfort.

The extensive use of timber on the Q Building required a unique coordination plan. A total of 24 container loads of timber and accessories were delivered and we accomplished the installation of the mass timber elements ahead of schedule to deliver this
outstanding facility.
