Status Completed

Savcon were engaged for the complete design and construct of the Mass Timber elements for the largest pool complex to be built in the city since the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

At the time of construction, the beams were the longest free spanning mass timber beams in Australia measuring 36m long! They consist of 2/1,200mm x 180mm x 36m GLT with a CLT top plate to create the composite beam forming a U-section which results in a more efficient structure over the large spans.

The beams were pre-assembled on the ground and then 16tonne composite beams were lifted with a 500tonne crane.
